Signatures provided by the Adamsville Primary School students support their strong feelings.
All during the Week of Respect, Adamsville students stamped their approval of anti-bullying with their signatures that they proudly wrote on a banner.
Meghan Skelton, the dedicated Adamsville School Counselor, was the force behind this crucial week.
“At Adamsville, we are celebrating the “Week of Respect” with a theme each day as a reminder of the importance of treating others with kindness and fostering a positive environment,” Ms. Skelton said.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District as well as all public schools in New Jersey have recognized the Week of Respect from Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11.
The Week of Respect is in accordance with the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, a New Jersey law that was signed into effect in 2011 to combat bullying in public schools.
The law requires that New Jersey public schools acknowledge the importance of social and emotional learning while emphasizing age-appropriate instruction that will focus on preventing harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB).
Ms. Skelton explained the activity which was well received by the eager Adamsville students.
“The students recited and signed a “Peace Pledge” banner at lunch. By signing their name they are committing to being respectful for the week and all year. The banner will be displayed as a reminder of their commitment to being kind and showing respect to all!”
