A productive lesson that was enjoyable in preschool integrated speech therapy was demonstrated at the Adamsville Primary School on Tuesday, October 1.
On this day at Adamsville, Speech Therapist Debbie Calabrese provided the lesson in the integrated speech program for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.
Teacher assistants, as well as Latesha Jenkins, the Supervisor of Special Services Pre K-6 for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, were also in attendance in the classroom where Ms. Calabrese instructed a few students.
“Integrated speech therapy provides an opportunity for students to apply skills learned during speech sessions in the classroom with their peers,” Ms. Jenkins explained. “It also provides an opportunity for speech therapists to support teachers and teaching assistants through modeling and hands-on training as they work with students.”
Ms. Jenkins further discussed the program.
“Speech therapists will be pushing into the preschool classroom for an integrated lesson related to the Creative Curriculum Tree Unit,” she said. “The Related Service Providers have been pushing into the classroom more especially with the Services Delivery Model that provides a Student Support Week to assist with achieving this goal and providing more in class training and support for students and staff.”
